The Iranian President...

Now one person whose grit and tenacity (some qualities "Bush" always pretends to have, being the head of the World's Largest Economy!) I really admire is that of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. This guy has rattled America like a tornado with his "peaceful" nuclear ambitions (Atleast he is realizing the final dreams of many of the founding fathers of the original nuclear programme!!)

And so, to curtail the ambitions of this East-Asian state of proceeding with nuclear enrichment for peaceful purposes, the United Nations Security Council (which I may remind you is still a US domain inspite of Ban Ki-Moon, a South Korean, becoming the Secretary General of the UN) passed "United Nations Security Council Resolution 1737 "unanimously" on 23 December 2006. The resolution imposed sanctions against Iran for failing to stop its uranium enrichment program following resolution 1696. It banned the supply of nuclear-related technology and materials and froze the assets of key individuals and companies related to the enrichment program. It took place two months after the creation of a draft-resolution, which was amended several times after objections from Russia and China (who by the way, have their own interests in Iran - Russia is building a nuclear power station in Iran and China has significant oil interests there). These objections were evident, as it took a last minute call from Russian President Vladimir Putin to George W. Bush to finalize the vote (For me, this signifies the beginning of a new American domination of Planet Earth!! A real worrying fact indeed!!).

The resolution, under Chapter Seven of Article 41 of the UN Charter, makes enforcement obligatory but limits action to non-military measures (Thank God!! Atleast Iran won't end up like Iraq!!!). As usual, Iran's foreign ministry spokesman, Mohammad Ali Hosseini, condemned the resolution as illegal. He told state-run television that the decision "cannot affect or limit Iran's peaceful nuclear activities but will discredit the decisions of the Security Council, whose power is deteriorating." (Spoken like a true patriotic Iranian!!).
And to end this post, think about this: The two programmes under which the assets of various people and organizations will be frozen are name as "Dickhead programme" and "Ballsac Programme" - Only an American can think of such "bullshit" names. Look closely if you want to discover the true meanings of the names!! Funny, aren't they???
