Something for you fellas...

I generally do a lot of web-surfing and come across various pictures on the net - Some of them intriguing, some just differrent!! (I am a great fan of the Javed Jaffrey ad!!!) So I have decided to add a photo whenever possible, a photo that's a bit differrent!!! So enjoy!!

This photo caused quite a stir prior to President George Bush's visit to India. In this picture, a U.S. security personnel inspects near the eternal flame at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial on Thursday, March 2nd 2006 . Hindu priests who take care of the memorial of Indian independence leader Mohandas Gandhi conducted a purification ceremony at the shrine after a visit by U.S. President George W. Bush, reports said Sunday. It wasn't the American leader who offended them, but the sniffer-dogs that sniffed the area ahead of his visit.

Also the opposition MPs in parliament on Friday objected to the presence of sniffer dogs (Are these the only issues that they can think about??) but the government justified this on security grounds. Raising the issue in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house, Kirpa Parmar of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said the presence of sniffer dogs at a "holy place" like Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial was an "assault on the dignity of the nation" (What??) .Samajwadi Party members, who support Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s government, were in agreement. The Communist Party of India-Marxist viewed the issue rather differently. "Our problem is not the dogs but Bush entering there," said the party’s Dipankar Mukherjee, a staunch US hater. (This man's got a point!!)

Well, US hater or not, one has to admit that the US security personnel go to any length to ensure a safe presidential visit. About 65 dogs had been brought along by the US Secret Service and were lodged in a five-star hotel on the ground that they were not mere canines, but security "officials"!!! Can you believe that???
