Movie Review Time!

Hi

Well most of the movies that I saw in the last few months were pretty awesome. So expect some really positive reviews on them. And my rating system has changed. I have started rating them a bit more conservatively than I used to. So this set of ratings and that after this one cannot be compared with those before this. Here they go:

1) Cashback (2006): A weird movie, but it’s worth a watch. Gets 7.5/10 for having a bit of the sci-fi element. Beware of the nudity – not meant for children.

2) The Love Guru (2008): hilarious one by Mike Myers again! Jessica Alba as hot as ever! 7/10 for some of the rib-tickling. It could have got more, but it’s a bit lame.

3) Pi (1998): When you see this movie, you do not realize what is going on. It is a bizarre movie. I give it a 9/10 as I happened to like it! The music/score was pretty good I must admit.

4) Peter Pan (Disney's Animated Feature Film): Ok ok… not for those who do not like those fancy stories related to children. 7/10 is my rating.

5) Just Friends (2005): Supposedly a romantic comedy. It didn’t captivate my attention at all. 7/10 is what it gets.

6) Find me Guilty (2006): Well, it’s for all those Godfather and Italian-mafia fans out there. The language is pretty awesome! Vin Diesel did his part well. 8.5/10 for its style.

7) Superhero Movie (2008): A spoof of Spiderman and many other movies. I would rate it 8/10 for good time pass.

8) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989): The name has it all… 9.5/10 for its story and Harrison Ford!

9) Get Smart (2008): Steve Carell did a great job and Anne Hathaway was HOT! 9/10 for its subtle and clean comedy.

10) Righteous Kill (2008): Well, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino command a lot of respect, but this movie is not worth all that. 7/10 for star power.

11) The Boondock Saints (1999): You have to see this movie to understand how people can make an action-oriented art film! 9/10 for giving me the ultimate thrill.

12) Eagle Eye (2008): Shia LaBeouf is back in action with the beautiful Michelle Monaghan (Remember “Made of Honor”?) and it gets 7.5/10 for the story

13) Hellboy 2: The Golden Army: I have to see the first part too. This one was funny! 8/10 for making a movie from that character!

14) Knight Rider Movie (2008): Please, I request you not to see the movie if you ARE a Knight Rider fan. You will be disappointed a lot. For the rest of the lot, see it and hate it. 6/10 for making the movie worse than what me as a fan expected to see.

15) Wanted (2008): Well, if you are a die-hard fan of Angelina Jolie, see this movie. Rest of you, see it if you like Bollywood Masala (minus the songs). 7.5/10 for the oomph effect.

16) Burn After Reading (2008): who on earth thought about making this movie anyways? I really dunno how Brad Pitt and George Clooney signed for this move. 7/10 for demonstrating that having big names doesn’t always ensure success in movies.

17) W (2008): Already reviewed it. 9.5/10 (new rating).

18) Thirteen Days (2000): Movie about the Cuban Missile crisis. Kevin Costner must have some sort of relation to Kennedy ’cause he keeps popping up in all Kennedy-related movies! 9/10 for its content and gripping nature.

19) Balls of Fury (2007): The name sounds as if it is some really violent porn film, but it is actually a sports-comedy related to ping-pong. 7/10 for the comedy factor. Time-pass movie.

20) The Bicycle Thief (1948, Italian): One of the classics. Although you have to watch the translated version, the movie still rocks. Trivia: The actor of the movie was picked off from the streets and s not a professional actor at all! 9/10 is my rating.

21) Futurama - Bender's Game (2008): Well, it was unlike any other animated movie I had seen before. It just looked like a long episode of Futurama. 8/10 for the story.

22) Infernal Affairs III (2003): I have seen all the movies in this series and I am confused as ever with the sea of faces – all of them look the same! Plus you have to follow all this with the subtitles. I will give a 7.5/10 because of my liking for the second part of the series.

23) Tropic Thunder (2008): The true story of the making of the most expensive fake true war movie ever made! And that is just the tagline! 9/10 for mind-blowing parodying of every war movie ever made and more! You HAVE to see Tom Cruise in this one!

24) Battle in Seattle (2008): One of the heart-warming film about the 1998 Seattle WTO Protests. 8.5/10 for the direction.

25) Quantum of Solace (2008): Since it was my first 007 movie in a theatre, I am going to give it a 9/10 for 100% paisa-vasool (including the popcorn!)

26) Serenity (2005): Even if you didn’t see the TV series, do see the movie. It kicks-ass, literally! 8/10 for the action and sci-fi angle.

27) How to lose friends and alienate people (2008): Will Simon Pegg ever stop making us laugh? The answer is NO and this movie is the proof. Kirsten Dunst also chips in. Since I was in a good mood, I liked it a lot. 8/10 for the efforts.

28) Bobby (2006): You don’t need to know about Robert Kennedy in order to appreciate the people around him. 9/10 for showing reality on-screen in such a emphatic fashion.

29) The Happening (2008): This movie made me scared of every breeze and rustle of leaves on a tree. Gripping, but could have been better. 7/10 for Shyamalan’s efforts.

30) The Nutty Professor (Animation, 2008): Watch it and enjoy it. 7/10 for the comedy.

31) Young People Fucking (2007): Don’t go by the name – It is a romantic comedy! As Roger Ebert says, “The title makes it sound cheaper than it is”. Just see and enjoy the fun as you see the reality of America exposed on-screen. 8/10 for making the movie!

32) Mamma Mia! (2008): I am a great fan of ABBA and this movie was the icing on the cake. Who said that you cannot have a completely musical movie that entertains? This one does! Meryl Streep still Rocks! Old is surely Gold! 9/10 for making me laugh at the ending of the movie.

33) Zack and Miri make a porno (2008): Please please do watch this movie. You will never watch a porn movie without remembering this movie. A beautiful take on a beautiful relationship. 8/10 for making me think “I am happy with my life!”

34) Dragon Hunters (Animation, 2008): Time pass movie, but kids will surely LOVE it! 8/10 for the cute-girl Zoe (voiced by Mary Matilyn Mouser, another cutie!)

35) The Incredible Hulk (2008): EDWARD NORTON IS ANGRY sums up the movie. 9/10 for the incredible fight scenes and Edward Norton. I never though he could actually play the Hulk better than Eric Bana, but he did!

36) Primer (2004): Budget: $7000; Gross Earnings: $424,760 – ever heard of making so much in just 2 years? Well, see this movie and read about it to learn how to. Sci-fi movie with lots of jargon. 8/10 for the content and editing.

37) Seven Pounds (2008): Another masterpiece by Will Smith. Let’s the critics go screw themselves – I won’t give it anything below 9/10 for making me cry at the end. Rosario Dawson has risen at last!

38) The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008): What on EARTH was that ENDING? Were they trying to destroy the entire movie? Keanu Reeves, please stick to the action roles, or the executive roles. This was not meant for you – An alien? 7/10 for the sci-fi angle and special effects.

39) Desperate Housewives the TV series gets a 8.5/10 for Season 1. Eva Longoria is SMOKING HOT!

40) Scrubs, another TV series, will get a 9/10 from my side. A must see, recommended by ME.

41) Slumdog Millionaire (2008): The movie ranking in IMDB was rising at a rate faster than the rate of oscillation of the stock markets till the beginning of 2009. 9/10 for daring to make a movie that would certainly shock the Britishers. Jamaal Malik is an inspiration.

42) Defiance (2008): The true story of the Bielski Partisans., set during WW II. Daniel Craig is pretty good in this one. The movie hasn’t released yet (But hey, I have seen it!). 9/10 for making sure the ending was good.

43) A Fish called Wanda (1988): What a comedy! What a love story! What a twist! I am simply in love with Jamie Lee Curtis all over again (I can even learn Russian for her!). 9/10 for making me almost fall of the bed laughing!

Ciao till my next list!
